Biography Of Chief Deputy George Haralson


The Operations Chief is responsible for the oversight of the Operations Division and the Court Services Division.

1998 to Present – Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office
1975 to 1998 – Tulsa Police Department
1973 to 1975 – Joplin Police Department

George Haralson began his law enforcement career with the Joplin Police Department. He joined the Tulsa Police Department in 1975, spending the next 23 years combating drugs, child pornography and gang activity in positions of increasing responsibility and rank. During employment with TPD he developed strong hostage negotiation skills. Chief Haralson joined TCSO in 1998 and has represented the Office in several different management positions. In 2006 he created the first Explosive Canine Unit for the Sheriff’s Office.

• 2006, created TCSO Explosive Canine Unit
• Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Medal of Valor (1999)
• As a TPD SOT hostage negotiator, completed 14 successful hostage recoveries
• Tulsa Police Department Medal of Valor (1983) Committee
