Students will tour the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center while learning the difference between the deputy and the corrections officer, the philosophy of Direct Supervision and the purpose for the particular management of inmates at DLM. While at DLM, students will be briefed on the Detention training, the SORT Team and various other detention related topics. PANTS/JEANS, T-SHIRTS AND CLOSED TOE SHOES/ TENNIS SHOES ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS SESSION, ABSOLUTELY NO SHORTS, TANK TOPS OR FLIP FLOPS! Participants must have a photo ID, drivers license preferred, on their person and may only have a vehicle key in their possession. No cell phones, pagers, tobacco or other related items are allowed inside the secure part of the facility.

This class is for all deputies to attend this year. It will count towards the two hour mental health training required by CLEET.

Tulsa Gun Club
This course is for deputies to learn and practice fundamental and advanced rifle shooting and manipulation techniques. Any deputy who has not taken a patrol rifle operator class and is carrying a patrol rifle MUST attend this class.

Student will receive information pertaining to the various support units available to the patrol division of the Sheriff’s Office, to include SWAT, K-9, Mounted Patrol, Reserves and the Drug Task Force. Students will participate in demonstrations from the various members of the above listed special teams.
Students will gain an understanding of the civil process, to include the court process of civil papers, the various kinds and service of civil papers, the process of Sheriff’s Sale of properties, and various other duties completed by the Civil Division.
Students will review the purpose and procedures of criminal investigations, tour the CSI lab, and receive training in digital photography, fingerprint lifting and various other procedures utilized by the Criminal Investigations Unit.
Students will spend the morning at the gun range, getting hands on experience with the handguns and rifles that the Sheriff’s Office deputies handle and qualify with. PANTS/JEANS, T-SHIRTS AND CLOSED TOE SHOES/TENNIS SHOES ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS SESSION, ABSOLUTELY NO SHORTS, TANK TOPS OR FLIP FLOPS! Light jacket may also be needed, dependant on the weather.
Custody and Control Deputy Billy McKelvey
Students will participate in discussions on use of force, police shootings along with practical applications of custody and control.
Students will participate in hands-on scenarios dealing with traffic stops, domestic violence
situations and other situational exercises. Participants will learn about officer discretion concerning the handling of various situations, to include traffic stops, pursuit situations, domestic violence calls and other situations with concentration on officer safety.
